About Tompkins Cortland Community College

Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY), the largest and most diverse university system in the United States. We are accredited by the New York State Education Department and the Middle States Association. TC3 is a small, friendly college in a safe rural location ideal for study and getting to know the "real" United States. At the same time, the college is located in a culturally diverse community in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. Our neighbors include Cornell University, known worldwide as a leading research institution; Ithaca College, one of the best private colleges in the United States; and SUNY Cortland, a well-regarded sister institution in the State University system. Our students are as diverse as our 34 degree programs. Some complete their degrees and go directly to work in their professions. Others transfer to a university to complete their bachelors, masters and Ph.D. degrees.

TC3 has a long tradition of receiving international students: over 300 of our 4,500 students come from over 60 different countries on every continent of the world.

Campus Life

TC3 offers apartment-style dormitory living right on our campus. Over 500 students now live in one of our five dormitories, enjoying a wide variety of activities and services offered to students. Public transporation to nearby communities is also available from the convenience of the TC3 campus.

Academic Programs

The TC3 curriculum prepares students for careers in the global marketplace, particularly in international business, business administration, television and broadcast journalism, hotel and restaurant management, engineering science, graphic design, computer forensics, web design, and computer information systems. A full list of the 34 degree programs is available upon request.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs

TC3 offers three levels of English from advanced beginner to high advanced levels. Each level is 8 credits and provides 120 hours of instruction in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Some students concentrate on their English studies for the first semester, while others take college courses for their degree while strengthening their English.

Transfer Opportunities

TC3 has over 50 articulation agreements with universities in the United States that allow our students to transfer easily. TC3's Office of Counseling, Career and Transfer Services has professionals who advise students on their choice of transfer college and who help them through the transfer process.

International Student Services

All TC3 services available to domestic students are also available to international students. In addition, the TC3 Global office offers services to meet the special needs of international students.

Admissions

You can begin your studies at TC3 in August, January or May each year. There are only two requirements for admission to TC3:
  • You must produce evidence of successful high-school graduation
  • For students whose native language is not English, you must demonstrate that you are capable of studying in English.
All candidates are required to submit official transcripts from all schools, universities, and colleges attended. Certified translation of each transcript into English must be provided if the documents are not in English. You must submit evidence of your proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to pursue college-level work.
