Welcome to Scottsdale Community College

Scottsdale Community College, a public two-year accredited community college, is one of ten colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District, the nation's largest community college system. The city of Scottsdale is located next to Phoenix, the fifth largest city in the U.S. and home to world-class museums, libraries, cultural events and professional athletics.

Area and Climate

The U.S. Council of Mayors voted Scottsdale as being the "most livable city" in the U.S. Sunshine and pleasant temperatures are enjoyed year-round with easy access to outdoor and recreational activities, such as golfing, hiking, rock climbing, water sports, and more. Popular attractions such as Southern California, Las Vegas, the Mexican border and the Grand Canyon are all within a day's drive.

English as a Second Language

SCC also offers an English as a Second Language (ESL) program which prepares students for success in regular academic degree programs. There are five levels of classes, from beginning to advanced English. Free tutoring and English Conversation classes are also available. New students take a placement exam upon arrival to SCC to test into the appropriate English level. No TOEFL score is required for admission into the ESL program. Students in the program work on improving the following skills:

  • Grammar
  • Listening/Speaking
  • Language Laboratory
  • Computer Skills
  • Accent Reduction

International Student Services

The SCC International Education Programs office in the Student Center offers:
  • Personalized Admission Assistance
  • Academic and Registration Advising
  • Visa Counseling and Issuance of I-20
  • New Student Orientation
  • Free Tutor Centers in Writing, Mathematics, Science and Computers
  • International Community Club, a multicultural community providing events, trips and volunteer opportunities
  • Events and activities during International Education and Foreign Language Weeks
  • Information on Housing*, Employment, and Transferring to a University
*While there are no residence halls on campus, SCC does have information on home stay programs and apartment locator services. The cities of Scottsdale and nearby Tempe (home of Arizona State University) have a variety of clean and safe apartment complexes and townhouses.

International Student Club

Whether it be a trip to the Grand Canyon or Southern California, pizza and a movie with friends, community service projects, or hiking in the nearby serene dessert mountains, there is a little of something for everyone!

Cost/Fees

For 9 months (estimated average costs):

Tuition and Fees: $6,800 (full-time enrollment is required for F-1 students)
Living Expenses: $8,700
Other (books & health insurance): $1,800
TOTAL (estimated): $17,300

International Admission Requirements

  1. A completed application form signed by the applicant
  2. TOEFL score of 500 (paper test) or 173 (computer test) for academic admission. No TOEFL required for admission to ESL program
  3. Official high school documents, transcripts, and completion certificates
  4. Financial support documents
No Application Fee Required!

Application Deadlines

July 1st for the Fall Semester (August - December)

November 1st for the Spring Semester (January - May)

April 1st for Summer Semester (late May - early August)
