Clackamas Community College
The Smart Choice!
Clackamas Community College is a public, two-year institution located about fifteen miles south of Portland, Oregon with views of Mt. Hood. The location and setting of the college is diverse and offers something of interest for almost anyone. Our campus is conveniently located in Oregon City, a safe and historic community. It is close to Portland, the largest city in Oregon, the lovely ocean beaches of the Oregon Coast, and the spectacular Cascade Mountains.
Founded in 1966, Clackamas is fully accredited and is one of Oregon’s fastest growing community colleges. It serves over 7,000 full time students. The college offers certificates in professional/technical areas as well as two year Associate of Arts and Science degrees. The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (A.A.O.T.) degree can be earned at Clackamas. Students who earn an A.A.O.T. degree may enter one of Oregon's 4-year universities as a third year student.
Choosing Clackamas is smart. Students have the advantages of a personal, high-quality education that doesn’t cost as much as a four year institution.
International Student Admissions
There is no TOEFL required for admission to Clackamas Community College. Students will be tested for English proficiency upon arrival, and if they need to improve their English skills for success in academic programs, they will study in our Program for Intensive English (PIE) and then transition into the degree program when their English proficiency is higher. Students who do not need English classes can enroll in college classes.
Program for Intensive English
Small classes, innovative curriculum and low cost are all features of the Program for Intensive English. Students receive individual attention to make sure they receive all the support they need in their core classes of reading & writing, conversation, and grammar. Elective classes include American idioms, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary building, computer lab, TOEFL and TOEIC preparation, and intercultural communication.
Highly trained instructors use modern teaching methods that promote student interaction. New classes are regularly introduced in response to changing student populations and needs. State-of-the-art computer labs enhance instruction.
