About Bluegrass Community & Technical College

International students are welcomed at Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC). BCTC provides educational opportunities to more than 12,000 students in various academic, technical, and personal enrichment courses. International students from 33 countries attend BCTC. Our large selection of academic programs, quality instruction, and low tuition rates offer international students superior academic opportunities and a unique cultural experience in a friendly atmosphere.

BCTC is a comprehensive community college where students can earn the two year Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S), and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees, and numerous technical degrees. The credits earned in these two-year degrees or the pre-baccalaureate program can be used to transfer to four-year universities to continue studies for the bachelor's degree.

BCTC is located on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, Kentucky. There are 5 other campuses in the region. There are 15 colleges and universities in the region. Lexington ranks sixth nationally in the education level of its citizens. The population is 260,500.

It is an area of a gently rolling plateau and is called the Bluegrass Region, a name given in the early discovery days because of the natural blue tint on the grass. It is known as the horse capital of the world because of its thoroughbred horse industry. The mean average temperature in Lexington is 54.9 degrees Fahrenheit. Annual precipitation is 45.68 inches. Kentucky has four distinct seasons that include cool plateau breezes, moderate nights in the summer, and no prolonged periods of heat, cold, rain, wind, or snow.
