Why did you decide to study in the U.S.A.?

To learn and improve English language skills.

How did you choose your program?

I have an aunt that lives in Olympia, who suggested the college. The location of South Puget Sound Community College is close to downtown where we can enjoy shopping. There are also many beautiful parks and lakes around the campus. The convenient public transportation system gives students an easy access to outdoor activities.

Low tuition costs and small classes also made it an attractive choice.

What do you like best?

The learning environment. Everyone is helpful and friendly. South Puget Sound Community College also has a wonderful international
student service office that helps foreign students with their educational planning as well as finding housing and campus employment.

What do you miss most?

My family and the food.

How has your English improved?

I have been here two years. My English has improved a lot. I have developed study skills, and believe the transition to a four year university will be easier.
What was your biggest surprise?

The weather, especially the snow. Everything seems so big here.

... your biggest disappointment?

I am not accustomed to the rain. Also, everything seem more expensive in the U.S.A.

How have you handled:
...Language differences?

I keep asking questions if I don’t understand.

...Finances?

Family support, and part-time job on-campus.

...Adjusting to a different educational system?

I have learned not to be afraid of asking questions, and to show professors what I have learned.

What are your activities?

My favorite activity is fishing, which it pretty good in Washington.

How is your U.S. education relevant to your personal goals and to the needs of your country?

My goal is to work in International Business. English is the primary business language in the world, and Taiwan does a lot of business with the U.S.A.
